Run That Back

I think I may have actually loved every stage of this cop.  I finished the spinning last night, and I realized I loved the cop so much, I left it there.

Well, at least overnight, lol! I had to see it completed!

Now, I have to say it.  My n-plying, also known as chain plying, needs some work.

Mmmm mmmm.  Reminds me of strawberry lemonade! :)

I’ve posted about learning to n-ply before.  Well, I’m still learning in a sense.  I’ve got the motions down.  But the tension is still iffy from time to time.

Sometimes my chain plying is just a bit too tight for me.  So, this time, after I was done plying, I decided to run it back.  After the yarn was plied, rather than just keeping what I had, I sent it back through the whole ordeal backwards, spinning it again in the initial direction in which I spun the singles.  This took some of the plying twist out so that I had a less coily n-plied yarn.

Of course, this is pre-wash.  But I have high hopes for it. :)

More beautiful work, Stacey! And the colors are so great together! Do you have a project in mind for it?
    Gracie <3

    • Thanks Gracie! I’m thinking socks, maybe? But I really wanted to do a poncho on my next knit though…Only the pattern I want to do calls for 10 balls of yarn and I don’t know that I’ve ever bought 10 balls of yarn for any one project before…Ugh. I feel like I’m being a typical, indecisive woman at the moment! I’m going to do some swatches before bed tonight and hope something comes to me, lol!

  2. Reminds me of smarties candies! Love, love the colors.

  3. Well, it’s looking good to me! Umm, strawberry lemonade sounds good. lol

  4. That is just gorgeous yarn! Yummy colors!

  5. Soooo beautiful … Funny you said it reminded you of lemonade – I thought of rhubarb and strawberries in an instant. :D
This is so great … And it looks really soft, too!

  6. Lovely spinning! This is some fantastic yarn. Colors are beautiful, and your rewinding of the n-ply turned out what looks (from here) like a perfect spin. Love it.

    • Thank you, Emily! I think it came out well…I don’t want to say perfect yet, lol! The best one so far was one of those mini-skeins I did while learning. It came out soft and plump right off…I have to learn how to duplicate that over an ENTIRE skein. But for now, running it back through again seems to be a good fix. :)

Lovely lovely lovely! Cannot wait to see it knit up. This would make gorgeous socks.

    • Thanks Allie! I want to see it knit up too! If it’s going to be socks, I might need one more skein to match with it, just to be sure I have enough…Or mittens. That might work too…Decisions, decisions.

  8. beautiful colours… and great work. Thanks and Love, nia

Strawberry lemonade got me through a run of 100-degree days recently; California berries are amazing at this time of year, so I just mix up a glass of lemonade mix, slice some strawberries into it, and add ice.

I took this post to heart and ran my two-ply through my wheel again today, back in the direction of the singles. MUCH calmer (though with one break toward the beginning).
Your n-plied yarns always look amazing, squishy and even.

  10. Beautiful yarn! :)
I’ve been enjoying your blog for a while, I find it inspiring and informative and the photography beautiful. So I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. If you’d like to accept it, please find out what to do on my blog. Have a nice day :)

  11. That is supremely beautiful!

So gorgeous! You’re really making me think about taking up spinning! ;)

  13. Oh that is such an insanely delicious skein of yarn! Some of my favorite colors right there…so sweet! (And please don’t say ‘strawberry lemonade’!!!) :)

    • Thanks Sosae!!

You know you want some, lol! :) We had some strawberries yesterday too…I think I’m going to go get some lemons to make this stuff up. I won’t be satisfied until I’ve had at least a sip!
