I’m looking for my summer and I can’t find it. If you’ve seen it, let me know, okay?
I really think I don’t know what to do with all of this free time. I have been such a slacker since the kids have been gone! Not to mention, school is just around the corner and I’ve got to get my biorhythms in check before these kids get back! Staying up until 2 and 3 in the morning is just not going to cut it…Wait a minute, I was doing that anyway. Ah well.
I’ve been living like a teenager for the first time since they went with their grands last year. Got to admit…I’ve been having a ball! Sleeping in…only having to do the hubby’s and my own dishes and laundry. We’ve been out to eat more often that not (and with an accountant for a husband, that almost never happens, lol). I go to work without having to drop a kid off or pick a kid up or even put one on the bus! It’s great! But, I do miss my crumb snatchers. A little bit.
Anyways, I led this post with a photo of my spindle…Have you ever stood in front of one of those maps that told you by obnoxious red arrow, “You Are Here” and realized where you need to be is nowhere near the “Here” part? That’s probably about where I am right now with this spindle, lol.
Fortunately, it’s still really pretty!
I did manage to get one of my other projects done.
And with a decent amount of yarn to spare too.
I think they’re really cute! And, of course, that means score another pair for the clogs!
So, the kids have the rest of this week before they are due back. We’ll see if I can’t get these spinning projects put to bed too.
Need.More.Summer.

I can’t believe summer is almost over, too! So fast. I love this new pair of socks you’ve finished. The colours are so fresh!
Thanks! I think these are really cute too. Even though they took a minute, they were really simple. Simple and cute works for me.
Cool clogs! What a great way to show off your beautiful socks.
Thanks! I got them from an online store called Knitters’s Dream about a year or so ago. They are actually gardening shoes. True story, lol.
The 7 summers I had during the years I worked as a teaching assistant were the fastest summers I ever experienced in my life
I continue to be inspired by what you accomplish all year, and love the socks you just completed!
Cheering you on,
Gracie xxx
I can’t believe school starts next week! I feel like we just let out for the summer! Well, fortunately, the end of summer doesn’t mean the end of crafting. And new activity usually fosters new ideas.
The socks are fabulous! Being retired now, I stay up until 2 almost every day and just sleep until I wake up. I figure that’s my reward for all the years I was teaching and got up a 5 am.
Lol! Don’t remind me! It’s 5:30 am for me and that half hour does not help! ROFL!
Thanks for the compliment on the socks.
Lovely socks and great colors. Makes me want to learn how to spin sock yarn.
Good luck finishing up the spinning in the rest of your free time.
Thanks! I’m working on it. But I’m hoping I’m not going to have to work in my sleep to get all that spinning done. Whew!
the idea of wearing clear clogs with attractive handmade socks just blows my mind. well done on that homespun!
Yeah, whoever came up with these clogs was a genius in my book.
Thanks!
I love your socks! The charade pattern, right? This is SO beautiful … I’ve made one-and-a-half pairs so far, both for friends of mine … It’s so wonderful!
And I loved what you said about the map … I know what that feels like …
This is an almost vanilla sock, lol! It’s just had a mock cable added to the leg and front half of the foot. It doesn’t really require a pattern. Maybe just a minimal amount of math to fit the mock cable amongst the stitches you need for the gauge. That’s about it.
Yes!! When I am working on this, I keep hearing, “You are NOT here.” Lol!
I’m guessing your summer ran off with my summer, because I have no idea where mine went either! My professional life slows down somewhat after school starts back up, so I can’t say I’m totally sad to see summer coming to an end. Love the handspun and the socks – both are such great colors!
Thank you!!
I’m sad to see it go. But I will be really happy when I get extra mad money to play with.
Unfortunately for us, we’ve got to admit that summer is gone. *sigh* I did a lot around the house, and still not enough. How can that be. And I didn’t knit a single thing or complete a crochet project at all. Again, how can that be? lol
Lol! Well, you cooked up a storm, that’s for sure! And it ALL looked tasty!
You don’t belive but I haven’t knitted socks yet… even I don’t know how to knitt… But this winter I want to learn and knit… Thank you dear Knitter
love, nia
Oh, it’s SO easy to learn, Nia!! Wait until you try it! You will love it!
The summer did go fast! Your socks look great though.
Thanks Cleo! I’ve really been bit hard by the sock knitting bug again.
I’ve been stuck on scarves for a while myself.
I love your socks! And as they say…summer flies!
Doesn’t it?! If I had blinked, I would’ve missed it!
Thanks for the compliment, Emily!
love the spindle picture! those socks are really gorgeous, I’ve got to find out where those clogs are from and get some to finally show off all my handknit socks!
Thanks! I got the clogs from Knitters’s Dream, an online shop. These are called Sloggers.
