Ooh! Ooh! Can I answer (raises hand and does what looks like a pee pee dance). Me!!
I woke up intending to fit in a knit for my mother this morning, so it was a good thing I finished Girl Child's socks some time around 2 a.m, lol. I actually did a no-no and tried them on her when she was asleep. Thankfully, they did fit. Whew!
Here she is with socks on over her commercial socks.
All done. And just in time. Here come the folks!
Merry Christmas!

happy holidays! I’ve been following along for a bit, I love how those socks came out, your spinning is fantastic and I love all the color!!! I am certainly investigating how you whipped up that gift box and all the awesome wraps, after the sea of pretty paper I waded through this morning all ripped to bits, I promised myself that I would learn. Can’t wait to see what’s coming up for 2013 with your spinning- hopefully this will be my year to get a wheel and follow along
Thanks, kimber! I love wrapping this way. I learned how to make wraps, though I don’t sew much. But for quick wraps, if the box can fit, I use bandanas as well. I get them from the craft stores in the area. They have nice selections of standard bandanas as well as designs that are floral or striped and colorful. And I learned to make a few different origami boxes (though you don’t need them for furoshiki-I just think it can make for a nice form to wrap).
Spinning is so fun! Have you tried a spindle yet? They are cheaper than wheels and can be just as beautiful. I am looking forward to some spindling time over this break too. I’ll spin on anything I can get my hands on, lol!
The button on the cowl gives it a nice finished look!
Thank you! I love collecting buttons. Even if I don’t have a project in mind, they always come in handy at some point.
Yay socks! They’re so cute! Perfect for such an adorable girl. And that is a very pretty cowl.
Thanks Emily! I think they came out great for my first afterthought heel project. They fit so well! But, I don’t think many knit socks are in her future. She really doesn’t like wearing socks at all. And handknit ones don’t seem to be changing her mind, lol. Country girl at heart.
I love the cowl, it looks so soft and smooshy! I am also pretty enthralled by the wrapping job.
Thanks lolly! I love this cowl myself…and I have some of this yarn left…Too bad I already claimed the green scarf, lol.
The socks are beautiful, they look like her feet are covered in love! I really like the idea of wraping with bandanas. I will have to keep an eye open for pretty scarves etc for wraping. Hope you had a nice Christmas.
Awww! Thanks! They are covered in love. But she loves having nakey feet. I think the legwarmers are probably going to be her favorite…
Oh yes! Bandanas are quick and easy-and very cost effective.
beautiful socks! well done!
hope you had a lovely holiday. Happy New Year!
Hey Flora!! I loved your Christmas photos! Your family is so beautiful. I wish I could keep Girl Child’s hair neat long enough for one of our own, lol. These days I give her a bath and a half hour later she looks like Dennis the Menace!
Thanks, I did have a lovely holiday and I hope you did too!
love the gift wrapping
Thanks Rina!! Hey, I saw the black you spun up. How do you make pitch black look so fun to spin?
Your presents look great! And love that wrapping!!! Hope you had a great Christmas.
Thanks, I did! I hope you had a great Christmas too!
