Road Trip

Finally. I’m taking a little break.  Gonna kick back and relax for awhile somewhere where there’s no paper to push and no desk to ride.  I can hardly wait! My husband and I have been dating again for a little bit and we’ve decided to take the show on the road for a week.  The kids are going and I think we’ll have a blast. Plus, since we’re going in the car, I get to knit! And what better project to do for a long car ride than a time-devouring stitch pattern like linen stitch?  I’m a pretty average paced knitter.  Slower even depending on the weather.  This stitch takes me forever.  But I love the results.  I tried it on a bookmark I gave to a friend once.  I’ve been looking for an excuse and a chunk of time to use it in a scarf or a bag.  So, this is it.

I even like the wrong side of the stitch.

It’s a handsome stitch regardless.  But, the fact that the yarn is variegated probably does a lot for the stitch too.

The fabric it’s making is pretty firm with extremely low bulk.  I bet it wouldn’t hurt to try it in cashmere or some other yarn that is doubly warm….similar to those commercial thinsulate products where the bulk is cut but the warmth isn’t sacrificed.  I have always been a fan of that brand.

We’re going to OBX where, for the first time in life, I’m going to get to beach knit.  For a week.  A whole week.  Can you stand it?

Doesn’t get much better than that.

Well, a whole month might be better.  But, I’ll take what I can get. 🙂

  1. I love to hear when women date their husbands. So romantic! I wish you a safe and happy trip with lots of knitting and family fun!

Oh… I’ve wanted to knit a linen stitch scarf, too! I can’t wait to see yours finished. I’m already loving the colours on yours!
