Ball Is Life

It truly is.

Well, school has gotten off to a roaring start. But not before the kids and I took a couple more mini-excursions. One, for me, was work-related and mandatory. But, it turned out to be a pretty relaxing day. I took my current little sidekick project with me.

I had started this the last time I posted. But, I hadn’t gotten much on there yet. I made up for it though.

I just find this fiber so pretty. And the environment where our company held its annual retreat wasn’t too shabby either. The event was low-key. Apart from the thirty minute session of line dancing and booty-shakingΒ (yeah, you read that right), it was very tranquil. Dancing in public is really not my thing. But, it’s difficult to refrain when your CEO is rocking it out! True story. I got it on film. πŸ™‚

Besides that, I found that long walks and spinning still works for me.

There was some explanations to be made about what I was doing. The organization has a few different branches sprawled across Delaware and many of the people I work with from the other branches hadn’t ever seen me spin before. Er…maybe they hadn’t seen anyone spin before! I can’t be too sure! So, I was able to drop some science, so to speak, here and there.

My kids, on the other hand, have a whole other kind of way of relaxing…If that’s what you want to call it, lol.

As you know, Boy Child has always enjoyed basketball. He divides his time on the court pre-season between the local park and the gym.

No sense in asking him to look at the camera. He wouldn’t be able to hear a thing!

He will, however, toss the ear buds aside for a shot in a heartbeat.

I didn’t even catch him firing that off!

Well, I think the attitude comes with the age…lol.

I tried to get the other one interested in the swings…

She’s good for about a minute. But, when she sees her brother on the court, she gets a little antsy. So, a couple months ago, she got her own ball.

There she goes on the drive!

Oh wait…

There’s the assist!

And the crowd goes WILLLLDDDD!!!! They left it all on the court today, folks!! What a team!

We’re having a ball. πŸ™‚

  1. Aw, the pictures of your son helping your daughter scoring (is that the right word? not too familiar with basketball terms) are so sweet!

    • Thank you! Yeah, when she’s not my shadow everywhere else, she’s his on the court. πŸ™‚ But, he’s really great with her. I really wish I had captured them both when he gave me the thumbs up after she made it. It was really adorable! I caught him but cut her head off in that shot. You know, no tripod…movement…sigh. Kid candids, lol.

  2. Such lovely spinning, love the color! Your kids look like they have fun together, that’s awesome πŸ™‚

  3. Your kids are ADORABLE together. Wish I could spin and walk!

  4. Girl Child has grown so much since I saw her last! It is so much fun seeing her and your son score points together! You definitely have a winning family team πŸ™‚ …and your spinning continues to score high with me, too. I love the positive sound of your employment situation, Stacey, dancing included. I am crocheting the border of a baby blanket and hope to post a photo of it soon. xx

    • Hasn’t she? She’s almost as big as me now. When’d that happen??!

This is a precarious employment climate these days, you know? I’m always happy to be employed than not! I do sometimes get a little fearful being an employed single mom with a special needs child. Childcare is not always easy to work out. There are usually no great options, although the one we currently have works wonderfully! But, we only have one more year there though…Can’t work without childcare, you know? I guess I’ll have to see what next year brings.

Baby blanket!! OMG, you just reminded me…I have another knit gift to do…

      • You definitely have some big concerns, Stacey. Having a special needs child and being a single mom is especially challenging from my observation of those around me who have faced both. I am praying that God will bring just the right folks to come along side you with the time and skills to truly bless you and yours with the practical help and encouragement you need. xx

  5. Your spinning is lovely! And I love the glimpses of your little family, when you do post – your kids both look so happy on the court, and so good with each other.

    • Thanks J.! I’m so glad they’re happy kids! She adores him. Copies everything he does. I think she’ll miss him lots when he goes to college. And he has always been very good with her. I couldn’t have asked for her to have a better big brother, or more understanding of her challenges.

  6. It’s soooooo good to see you all doing so very well. ❀

  7. Love it
