Happy Place

I finally did it!!!

And you’d be so proud of me!

Let me start from the beginning…Some of you may recall my aspirations of buying a home for my kids. A daunting feat, since it would be my first time buying a house. Even more daunting given my income. But, it was my number one goal and pretty much all I could think about for the time I had it…which turned out to be a little more than a year, after all. There were some moments of doubt and all the nasty feelings that come with that. It’s just difficult to be completely happy when you feel so in flux all the time. Add to that the responsibility of a couple kids that have not had the same roof over their heads for more than two years at a time from birth…and you may have an idea of the pressure I was feeling to bring some stability into our collective reality.

I have to admit, buying a home required a whole lot more focus than I felt capable (even down to curtailing my fiber spending, spinning monotone fluff I already had, and going to bed when I’d rather be spinning or making something…ugh :/). But, look!

In early April, the kids and I moved into our own house. The street’s name wasn’t Stability, but it sure felt like it should be!

Now this is not a brand-spanking new house. It’s just new-to-me. So, there are some things I need to do to make it more comfortable, and to make it feel like home. But, we made it!

I’m still using the furniture from the apartment, while updating with some new stuff here and there. Here’s a two second walk through of some of the house…

This is my room. I put my desk in here in the event I should actually find time to use it! Lol.

This is Boy Child’s room. Looks better than mine, huh? Lol.

Below, is Girl Child’s room. We’re expecting the full size set to arrive today so I can put this in the basement. I am thinking about a twin day bed/sofa…

I even get a crafts room in the finished basement…

…when it gets unpacked and organized, lol.

One day at a time. πŸ™‚

I can tell it’s becoming more like a home though because I see the changes in my kids. Boy Child’s room looked like a great, new bedroom for all of about a week. Now, it’s looking real boy in there! You moms of boys know exactly what I mean…and, if you don’t, I want to know your secret! When he’s not sprawled across his bed doing homework or texting, he dances and slides across the living room floor doing the running man challenge in his tube socks. Girl Child comes home from school and her babysitter and she immediately runs upstairs, puts her pj’s on, runs back downstairs, and sits at the dining table ready for her (ahem) second dinner, lol. Though there is still enough to do around here, everything is coming together, which means… I get to relax a little bit and re-enter my life! And maybe buy a little something fun for me?? πŸ™‚

I’ve been spinning a little here and there on Sarturdays for my #saturdaynightspinning.

Some on bobbins, some on spindles…for as long as I have time to do. Some nights that worked out to be an hour of more. Sometimes, more like five minutes before I konked out for the night. Hey, it happens. πŸ™‚  I believe I even had one blogger join me. Thanks to swayinglightss for having some fun with me! If you want to see some of her fibery goodness, check out her instagram. It’s sweet!

And this past week, I ordered some particularly vibrant fluff from etsy and spun some hand dyed fluff from Greenbank Mills!!

Woohoo! That felt liberating!

Yup, we’re finding our happy place again. πŸ™‚

  1. I’m so happy for you Stacy! Congratulations again and best to you and the kiddos in your new happy place!!! πŸ˜€

  2. Nicky typed just what I wanted to type to you, Stacy! I am sitting here smiling at you πŸ™‚ and admiring your spinning…I have only posted 3 pictures on Instagram and have not figured out how to visit the folks I want to in a timely fashion. I have been fiddling around with various forms of coloring including watercolor paints. I just posted some of my latest efforts…very elementary but so much fun! Have been knitting rows on various blankets and to make standard dishcloths. Happy nest feathering! xxxxxxx

    • Wow Gracie! That sounds really busy! Can’t wait to see your works! Sounds like you’ve been having fun with paint and yarn. Im so jelly! And I’m so out of it, I’m really in need of a few different fixes all at once now lol.

  3. Oh gosh, congratulations on achieving such a huge goal for your family! It sounds like it must have taken a ton of dedication and hard work – what an accomplishment!

(And thank you so much for the link-up to my Instagram – I’m totally blushing! I love seeing your Saturday spindling & hearing what the movie of the evening is, even if I can’t always join in.)

    • Haha! It did for me. I hear so many say how easy the process is for them and I’m like…yeah, not so much over here. I don’t even know that I understand the process as well as I should yet. But, I had a lot of good advice from people who did know the process. So, that didn’t hurt. πŸ˜‰

Hey, no problem with the link! I’m so glad you could join in when you did and I love sharing. You’ve got some awesome spinning going on over there!

  4. Congratulations! I bought my house in ’93 from a friend who was a mortgage loan officer, she had me assume her mortgage and she managed the whole thing so it was really easy. Whenever someone is talking to me about buying a house it sounds so complicated that I start to feel anxious just listening to them πŸ˜‰

  5. Congratulations! It’s wonderful that you all have a place of your own. Sending hugs and good energy your way.

  6. Congrats!!
